"Staying at Kavita was
not only a lovely and relaxing experience, but I think it is important for
visitors, who have come because of their fascination with African wildlife, to
see what concerned, dedicated Namibians are doing to improve wildlife
conservation in their country."
Harriette F.

Bedroom at Kavita
The trip was organized in detail
focusing on guest comfort. The guides were social, informative, and
attentive. Food was the best available, whether local and traditional, or
prepared to order. Eating under all the conditions was fun and an
important part of the experience.

"The accommodations were
intriguingly
varied, sometimes exotic and plush, but always at a level of comfort
beyond our expectations as tourists. Heinitzburg Castle was
exquisite
and a world class treat on our
last day and night."

Johannesburg International Airport
Holiday Inn:
The
hotel is located just a 3-minute courtesy van ride from the Johannesburg
International airport terminal and provides high-quality accommodations
and friendly service.
All
meals are served buffet style in the main dining room, and the breakfast
buffet is especially good.
Sossusvlei Lodge:
Surrounded by ancient camelthorn trees at
the gateway to Sossusvlei Pan, the site of the world's highest sand dunes,
the Sossusvlei Lodge has been designed to fit in perfectly with the Namib
Desert environment. The guest rooms have adobe walls, slate floors,
and stretched canvas roofs designed to remain cool even in the heat of the
day. Guests have a choice of dining in the resort's first-class
restaurant or of dining al fresco under remarkable southern skies.
Wolwedans Dune Camp:
The Wolwedans Dune Camp consists of seven
accommodation units and a central lapa area where guests meet for
sundowners and meals. The entire camp is constructed on wooden
platforms and overlooks panoramic vistas in all directions. Guests stay in
permanent tents with a private spacious veranda and en suite
facilities. Spacious sundowner decks provide a relaxed atmosphere
for exquisite stargazing.
Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge:
This unusual lodge was built from natural
materials to blend in with the desert terrain to a remarkable degree.
It offers a pool, a restaurant for fine dining, and a number of separate
guest rooms that are very comfortable and yet compatible with the serenity
and quiet that characterize the Namib Desert environment.
The Hansa Hotel
in Swakomund:
The
luxurious Hansa Hotel is in the center of Swakopmund, and offers every modern convenience. Built in 1905, the
classic design of the grand Hansa forms part of the town’s architectural
culture. The hotel received the Best Hotel in Namibia Award from the Hotel Association of Namibia in
1997 and 1998, and more recently received a Certificate of Excellence from the
same association.
The
Hansa has a fine restaurant featuring seafood and game dishes.
The Hansa also has an extensive wine list that has won the Diners Club
Wine List of the Year Award. The hotel offers continental as well as
English breakfasts, and an a la carte dinner menu.
Mowani
Mountain Camp
in Damaraland:
This lodge
is one of the finest in the Damaraland Region. Its thatched dome-shaped structures echo the shape of
the surrounding granite boulders. The feeling is one of an upscale African
village, a theme continued throughout the Camp in various wood carvings
and artifacts. The main complex at Mowani Camp consists of a reception, bar,
dining room, and lounge which overlooks the waterhole. Accommodations are
in 12 luxury East-African-style safari tents with en suite facilities.
The tents are built on raised wooden platforms, each with its own private
verandah and great views of the Aba-Huab Valley.
Kavita Lion Lodge:
Kavita Lion Lodge is located on a large
private game ranch just below Etosha Park's western entrance.
The accommodations consist of very attractive thatched-roof chalets
overlooking a waterhole. Enjoy the swimming pool, guided nature hikes,
and game drives on the expansive ranch. Kavita is also the home of the
Afri-Leo Foundation and a sanctuary for lions unable to survive in the
wild.
The
excellent cuisine at Kavita Lion Lodge is
European style, using fresh, local ingredients. The Lodge serves
delicious pastries and teas every afternoon.
Etosha National Park: Okaukeujo Camp
Okaukeujo Camp in the central Etosha
region is justifiably famous for nighttime sightings of
black rhino and elephants at its waterhole. The 2-bed and 4-bed bungalows are
very comfortable, and Okaukeujo also has a
restaurant serving diverse local specialties. Other
amenities include indoor and outdoor bars and a small shopping kiosk.
There are diverse animals at the Okaukeujo waterhole nearly every hour of
the day and night. So take your after-dinner drinks, binoculars, and
jacket, and settle in to enjoy the show!
Etosha National Park: Mushara Lodge
Mushara Lodge, located 8 kilometers from
the eastern entrance of the Etosha National Park, has 10
widely-spaced bungalows equipped with air conditioning,
telephone, safe, mini bar and ensuite bathrooms. A lavish buffet-style
breakfast and excellent dinner complemented by a quality wine
list is served in their dining room. Mushara Lodge opened in 1998, making it one of the newest resorts in
Namibia, and its facilities have been very well-maintained.
Okonjima Resort:
Okonjima is a private game reserve and luxurious resort that is also a
rehabilitation center and sanctuary for African big cats. Every year
it is chosen as one of the leading resorts in Namibia. The
accommodations are in individual chalets tucked away in the bush for
privacy, or in a lovely lodge setting with rooms arranged surrounding a beautiful
courtyard and garden area. And the dining is outstanding. The main buildings include dining rooms,
bars and shops for buying souvenirs. Okonjima offers a wide range of
activities including up-close cheetah, lion, and leopard sitings, guided
walks, game drives, and after-dinner viewing of nocturnal animals from a
special game hide.
Hotel Castle Heinitzburg:
The
Hotel Castle Heinitzburg sits high on a bluff overlooking Windhoek, the
capital of Namibia. The Castle was built by a German aristocrat in 1914
and was used for various purposes before it was converted into Namibia's
highest-rated hotel. The Heinitzburg hotel features beautifully furnished guest rooms equipped with
all the modern conveniences.
You
will enjoy a memorable dinner in Leo's at the Castle, the highest-rated restaurant in Namibia with the largest private
wine cellar.
